Eco lodge

Although we do not advertise it directly, we consider it self-evident to treat nature with respect and to burden the environment as little as possible. We are located in a beautiful nature reserve and we would like to keep it that way.

Our tents are on a wooden platform on poles above the ground, so nature can simply take its course underneath.
We have used natural products as much as possible to protect the wood where possible.

Water and waste water treatment

The drinking water comes from our own well, is filtered and pumped around.
The waste water goes to a biological septic tank, where many waste products in the water are broken down. When the water comes out of the septic tank, it flows into a reed bed, where it is further purified. The water that flows out of there is clean enough to use for irrigation.
We collect it in tanks and regularly pump it to various ‘swales’ on the site.

Cleaning products and toiletries

We use ecological cleaning products and we ask our guests to take this into account as much as possible. Please do not use chemicals, such as Vanish, to remove stains from your laundry.

Use the environmentally friendly laundry and cleaning products and toiletries we provide. Chemicals kill the good bacteria in our septic tank. Toilet paper can simply be flushed down the toilet, but use it sparingly, no big wads, and flush nothing else but toilet paper.

Natural swimming water

The water in the pool comes from our own spring and is completely pure. It is a natural pool that is cleaned by the plants in the areas next to the swimming area. You are not swimming in a pond, it is a real swimming pool but with untreated water. The water is pumped around so that the plants can purify it.
It is just like swimming in a naturallake, really wonderful.
It is also called a biological swimming pool or ecological swimming pool.

Meals

We have a small organic vegetable garden, but most of the vegetables for the meals we cook come from a local farmer We cook plant-based (and delicious!) meals.
If you like breakfast comes with eggs from our own chickens or from other happy chickens in the neighborhood.

Where possible we use organic ingredients.

Electricity

We are connected to the grid for our electricity, with the support of solar panels. Energy-saving and LED lamps are used in the tents and the only other electrical appliance is a small refrigerator. On the site and outside we use solar lamps as much as possible. Our electricity bill is very small.

Hot water

Our own hot water comes from a solar boiler, for the tents this is unfortunately still very expensive and we work with a water heater and gas bottles.

We ask our guests to enjoy the luxury of the warm and cold running water and electricity at the tent, but to use it only when needed.

Public transport

Unfortunately, it is not easy to get around here by public transport, which is very infrequent. A car is really necessary to get to the shops and the beach. Of course, if you are a sporty cyclist and don’t mind a hill or two, it is possible to get around by bike.
