Portugal Nature Lodge is located on the Monte Malhadins estate, a beautiful 7.5 hectare (75000 m2) piece of land with hills covered with cork oaks and many other trees, shrubs, plants, flowers and herbs.

It is located near the beautiful white Alentejan village of Troviscais in the Parque Natural Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina.
This park was created by the Portuguese government to stop too much and too high building along the coast. And they have succeeded. Here you can still find many beautiful beaches with no buildings in the background.

We bought this land in October 2008 when it had not been used for years. Everything was overgrown, there was no electricity or water, no house, just the remains of the small farm that once stood here.

We drilled a well, installed electricity and cleared a lot of land to put up the tents and make paths. There is now electricity, water and sewage throughout the site.

All tents have their own bathroom with a ‘normal’ toilet, a kitchenette with fridge and electricity.
All tents stand on a suspended wooden platform.

There is a natural swimming pool at the beginning of the glamping area, ideal for a refreshing plunge. Here are also lounge beds and a wooden house with books to read. an honesty fridge and wifi.

Our own house is at the entrance of the site. There is no reception, but there is usually one of us around to answer any questions. Of course we will make sure we are there when you arrive.
